2011 Youth Market Turkey Show

Spring time is finally getting here!  We have been planning for our 2011 Youth Market Turkey Show.  The poults (baby turkey) pickup and workshop is May 21st at 10:00am in the Livestock Sales Arena.  This year the pickup will be combined with an educational workshop for the youth.  All exhibitors participating in the Youth Market Turkey Show are strongly encouraged to attend.  If you are a youth considering raising turkeys but are not ready for this year please fill free to attend. 

Entry forms to participate in the 2011 show are due back to the WNC Ag Center by April 15th.  There is a limit of 50 exhibitors.  The first 50 completed entry forms turned into the WNC Ag Center will be accepted.  All poults must be picked up on May 21st by 12:30. 

New for 2011 will be poultry showmanship.  This competition will be held on the same day as the Youth Market Turkey Show.  Part of the workshop on May 21st will be explaining and demonstrating the requirements for poultry showmanship.

There is also a possibility of having baby chicks available on May 21st.  Cost and availability has not been determined.  If you would be interested in chicks please let us know by April 15th so we can better judge this need.

A handout explaining pre-setup needs for your new turkey poults is available by download.  Please have all the needed supplies in place before the May 21st.  (Feed, heat source, brooder, etc…)
